Chesterbrook Dive - Practice Safety
Good afternoon dive families,
While diving and the dive team strive to focus on fun, diving is nevertheless a serious activity. After a few recent incidents, the coaches have asked that we send out the following reminders to everyone:
- First and foremost, please remind your divers that they need to listen to every coach's instruction. If divers aren't participating in a safe manner, the coaches will have them sit out.
- Also, the coaches have noticed a marked increase in foul language in the past week. Please remind your divers that we need to make this a friendly and inclusive environment for the younger divers. The older divers need to be role models as much as the coaches are.
- Finally, parents with young children are encouraged to stay on pool deck with their divers, especially younger divers who are still getting used to the format of dive practice. For example, the coaches have noticed divers not remaining in line when at practice. Too many kids run off in the line and end up not diving at all and the coaches cannot leave the dive well to bring kids back.
And lastly, a reminder that while we are flexible, there are official practice times and practices have a structure. Divers who are unable to attend practice from beginning to end need to bring self-direction to catch up with practice and avoid disrupting those divers who are already working.
Thank you for paying attention to these requests,
-Jeff, Jared, and the Coaching Staff
