Chesterbrook Dive Weekly Update - The season is here!

Happy Thursday Divers and Parents!

I hope everyone got a donut yesterday, huge thanks to Afton Mormann for bringing them in.  By the time I was around for the last practice, it was all we could do to keep the sharks at bay (see what I did there?).

B Meet TONIGHT at Donaldson Run - Arrive at 5!

The first B meet of the season is tonight at Donaldson Run.  We get the pool to start warming up at 5:00, with the meet starting at 6:00.  Volunteers, please be ready at 5:45.  From what I have heard, we have two judges and two table workers available (that's one judge short - but for a B meet should be ok).  If we are short table workers, we will have a dive rep or coach just conscript a parent from the crowd.  That'll be fun!  Thank you to those that have reached out to say you are available.  Once you know you can do a job, please sign up in Swimtopia.  All this panic is bad for me.

Next Week's Meets - Away at Great Falls and Away at Overlee

Next week's A meet will be at Great Falls on Tuesday - arrive at 5 to warm up.  Next week's B meet will be at Overlee on Thursday - again, arrive at 5.  If you don't need the entire time to warm up, you are free to arrive later, but for away meets especially, sometimes it take a few jumps to get used to different boards.

Your valiant dive reps are both unavailable next week, so PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY TO VOLUNTEER.  We need to provide judges (3) and table workers (2) for both.

Table Worker Volunteers:

Every parent should sign up to be a table worker or announcer at one meet where their child is diving.  Table working is a job that can be taught in a few minutes, yet is hugely important to making the meet a success.  If everyone signed up for one slot, we would be good for the season.  And don't worry, no matter which job you pick, you'll still be able to stop and watch your child dive.  In fact, I happen to think the best picture-taking spot at a meet is from the scorer's table.

Potluck Dinner Volunteer?

Each year we try to host a few potluck dinners for the team and families to get to know each other.  While this first Sunday's potluck snuck up on us before we had time to plan it, we've reserved the Pavilion for Sunday, June 30, from 5 to 8pm.  If there's a volunteer or two willing to step in and try to coordinate a dinner and some games, we can provide contacts for the team.  Don't worry, we'll still have a catered end-of-season party.  The date for that will be announced soon.

Last Week's Meet

Last Week's A meet was sadly a loss for our Tigershark divers, 44 to 27, against new foe Hayfield Farm.  We managed to take second and third in numerous divisions, but first place finishes remained elusive.  We'll see if this is a taste of diving in up a division after winning our last year, or if Hayfield is a particularly strong pool.  I know the divers are back on the boards and working harder than ever (if we can those shammies out of their hands) to bounce back next week (see what I did there again?).

As always, if you have questions please email me or [email protected].  We've had a few divers join the team in the last week - welcome!  And if you have friends of any age at the pool who are thinking about diving, please let them know they can still join.

See you by the pool,

-Jeff
